New Delhi: On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi confirmed that India has officially become the world’s fourth-largest economy, surpassing Japan. This statement followed NITI Aayog CEO BVR Subrahmanyam’s announcement that India’s economy has reached the $4 trillion milestone.
“On May 26, 2014, I took the oath of office as Prime Minister for the first time. At that moment, India’s economy was ranked 11th… Today, India has ascended to the position of the world’s fourth-largest economy. It is a source of pride for all of us that we have now outpaced Japan… I still recall the enthusiasm throughout the nation when we advanced from sixth to fifth place, particularly among the youth. The reason for this excitement was that India had surpassed the United Kingdom, the very country that ruled us for 250 years,” PM Modi remarked.
Subrahmanyam stated
Subrahmanyam stated last Saturday that India has indeed overtaken Japan to secure the fourth-largest economy globally. During a press briefing following the 10th governing council meeting of NITI Aayog, he mentioned that India’s economy is now valued at $4 trillion, with only the United States, China, and Germany having larger economies.
“As I speak, we are the fourth largest economy. We are a $4 trillion economy as I speak,” he noted.
“If we adhere to our plans and strategies, in 2.5 to 3 years, we will become the third-largest economy,” he added.
PM Modi addresses Pakistan
In a firm message directed at Pakistan, Modi stated that cross-border terrorism will no longer be referred to as a proxy war, as the flags of the Pakistani army were placed on the coffins of terrorists who perished during India’s Operation Sindoor.
“I assert that this can no longer be termed a proxy war because the terrorists whose funerals took place after May 6 were honored by the state in Pakistan. The flags of Pakistan were draped over their coffins, and their army paid them respects. This demonstrates that terrorist activities are not merely a proxy war but a meticulously planned war strategy. You are already engaged in warfare, and you will receive an appropriate response. We do not seek hostility with anyone. Our desire is to coexist peacefully.
