Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will lead new ‘Department of Government Efficiency’ in Trump administration
New Delhi: US President-elect Donald Trump has announced that Elon Musk will assume the role of head of the newly established ‘Department of Government Efficiency,’ a position Trump alluded to during his campaign. Musk will collaborate with Indian-American entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy in this capacity.
In a statement, Trump expressed, “Together, these two remarkable Americans will lead my Administration’s efforts to dismantle government bureaucracy, eliminate unnecessary regulations, reduce wasteful spending, and reorganize federal agencies—crucial components of the ‘Save America’ initiative.”
He further stated, “I anticipate that Elon and Vivek will implement reforms within the Federal Bureaucracy focused on efficiency while simultaneously enhancing the quality of life for all Americans.”
Trump emphasized their mission to eradicate “massive waste and fraud” from government operations. Last week, Donald Trump secured victory in the presidential election, surpassing Democratic opponent Kamala Harris by a margin of 69 electoral votes.
During his victory address, Trump lauded Musk, referring to him as an “incredible and super genius individual.” He noted that Musk had spent two weeks campaigning alongside him in Philadelphia and various locations in Pennsylvania.
“We have a new star; a star is born: Elon. He is an extraordinary individual. We were together this evening, and he dedicated two weeks to campaigning in Philadelphia and across Pennsylvania,” Trump remarked to his supporters.
Musk, a fervent supporter of Trump, played a significant role in the Republican’s presidential campaign. The CEO of Tesla contributed over 100 million dollars to Trump’s re-election efforts and actively campaigned through his social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
On November 9, Trump further indicated Musk’s involvement in his administration by reportedly inviting him to join a call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. A Ukrainian official noted that Zelensky expressed gratitude to Musk for the Starlink services, although the primary discussion was with Trump, as reported by news agency AFP.
