Three terrorists killed in encounter with security forces in J&K’s Shopian

New Delhi: On Tuesday, three terrorists were killed during a confrontation in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, following an operation initiated by security forces in the Keller forests, according to the Indian Army.

The operation, named ‘Operation Keller,’ commenced on May 13, 2025, based on specific intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the Shoekal Keller area. The Indian Army reported that during the operation, the terrorists engaged in heavy gunfire, leading to a fierce exchange that resulted in the elimination of three notorious terrorists.

The operation is ongoing. Sources indicate that there may still be two to three terrorists remaining in the forest. The armed forces have been conducting combing operations in the forests of South Kashmir and Kishtwar since the terror attacks in Pahalgam on April 22, which resulted in 26 fatalities and numerous injuries.

Although the operation began early in the morning, it remains uncertain if the suspected terrorists hiding in the Shopian forests are connected to the Pahalgam attacks. In related news, posters have appeared in various locations in Pulwama district offering a ₹20 lakh reward for information leading to the capture of the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack.

Additionally, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have released sketches and identities of three terrorists believed to be linked to the Pahalgam incident, all of whom are associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba, with a bounty of ₹20 lakh placed on each of them.
