New Delhi: On Sunday, security forces successfully disrupted a terrorist plot in Hyderabad, Telangana, apprehending two individuals suspected of planning bomb attacks in the city. According to an NDTV report, the suspects, identified as Siraj Ur Rehman (29) and Syed Sameer (28), are believed to have connections with an ISIS module operating from Saudi Arabia.
The two men are currently in custody and are expected to appear in court shortly. These arrests were made following a high-stakes joint operation conducted by the counterintelligence units of the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Police, initiated after receiving an intelligence tip-off.
Rehman was initially detained in Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh, and his questioning led to the subsequent arrest of Sameer in Hyderabad. During searches of locations associated with the suspects, police recovered explosive materials, including ammonia, sulfur, and aluminum powder.
Reports indicate that Siraj obtained these materials in Vizianagaram as part of their plan, with the duo allegedly receiving guidance from an ISIS module in Saudi Arabia to execute attacks in Hyderabad, as reported by India Today.
This foiled plot follows a recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 innocent lives were lost, prompting a significant military and diplomatic response from India, including Operation Sindoor, which targeted nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.
