New Delhi: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met with Union Food Minister Pralhad Joshi on Tuesday to address significant matters concerning food distribution and civil supplies.
Accompanied by state Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, the Chief Minister highlighted the necessity for enhancements and policy reforms, as stated in an official announcement. He also requested the Union Minister’s assistance in tackling the challenges faced and ensuring an uninterrupted supply chain for the residents of Telangana.
Furthermore, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy urged the Central government to expedite the disbursement of outstanding dues totaling ₹1,468.94 crore for rice provided to the Food Corporation of India (FCI) during the kharif season of 2014-15. He pointed out that the Telangana government had absorbed the additional levy costs that year, yet the reimbursement has been pending for over ten years.
In his meeting with Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Pralhad Joshi, in New Delhi, the Chief Minister, along with Minister for Irrigation and Civil Supplies N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, advocated for a prompt resolution to this long-standing issue. He also requested the release of ₹343.27 crore for rice supplied from May 2021 to March 2022 under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana, as well as an additional ₹79.09 crore for rice provided under the National Food Security Act from June 2021 to April 2022.
