Pakistan violates ceasefire for 4th day, Indian troops give ‘effective and swift’ response

Srinagar: For the fourth consecutive day, Pakistan has breached the ceasefire amid rising tensions along the Line of Control (LoC). On the night of April 27-28, 2025, the Pakistan Army commenced unprovoked small arms fire targeting areas opposite Kupwara and Poonch districts, to which Indian forces responded promptly and effectively, according to a statement from the Indian Army.

On Saturday, the Pakistan Army continued its aggression by firing at multiple Indian posts along the LoC for the third consecutive day. The Indian Army reported that on the night of April 26-27, 2025, unprovoked small arms fire was initiated by Pakistan Army posts in the Tutmari Gali and Rampur Sectors, with Indian troops responding effectively.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have intensified following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which resulted in 26 fatalities, prompting security agencies to ramp up their efforts to locate the attackers.

In South Kashmir, security forces have demolished the homes of three additional suspected terrorists, bringing the total to nine since the Pahalgam attack. The demolished properties belonged to Adnan Shafi Dar in Zainapora, Amir Nazir in Daramdora, and Jameel Ahmad in Naz Colony. In response, New Delhi has implemented a series of retaliatory measures, including visa cancellations and the suspension of the 1960s Indus Water Treaty. Pakistan has countered by suspending the 1972 Shimla Agreement and closing its airspace to Indian flights. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed support for a decisive fight against terrorism while warning against actions that may alienate those who have raised concerns over innocent casualties.

“After the Pahalgam terror attack, there must be a decisive fight against terrorism and its origin. The people of Kashmir have come out openly against terrorism and the murder of innocent people, they did this freely & spontaneously. It’s time to build on this support and avoid any misplaced action that alienates people. Punish the guilty, show them no mercy but don’t let innocent people become collateral damage,” Abdullah wrote on X.
