During a search operation conducted in the vicinity of Lower Loiching Ridge in Kangpokpi District, security forces made significant discoveries of weapons and ammunition on Friday.
The confiscated items included a 9mm pistol with a magazine, a 112-bore single barrel rifle, an improvised 7.62mm SLR, an improvised 9mm CMG with a magazine, a long-range improvised mortar, a short-range improvised mortar, a Baofeng radio set with charger, an MK III A2 grenade, a hand grenade detonator, two stun shells (smoke), a long-range improvised mortar bomb, a short-range improvised mortar bomb, and 14 live ammunition rounds. This operation is part of ongoing security efforts in the region, aimed at combating illegal activities and ensuring the safety of the public.
According to a statement from the Manipur Police control room, security forces have also ensured the smooth passage of 146 vehicles along NH-37 and 84 vehicles along NH-2, facilitating the transportation of essential goods.
To enhance security further, 100 checkpoints have been set up across various districts of Manipur. These measures have resulted in the detention of 174 individuals for various violations, underscoring the commitment to maintaining order and safety throughout the state.
