NCB seizes 82 kg cocaine in Delhi
New Delhi: On Friday, over 500 kg of narcotics were confiscated in the waters off Porbandar, Gujarat, following a coordinated operation conducted by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). The drugs were allegedly being transported by an Iranian vessel.
The operation commenced in the open sea on Thursday night, as reported by the news agency ANI. The NCB executed the operation in partnership with the Navy and the Gujarat ATS. In a separate development on the same day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that the NCB had seized 82.53 kg of high-quality cocaine in New Delhi. “This significant drug haul, valued at approximately ₹900 crore, was identified through a comprehensive investigative approach after a smaller quantity was discovered at a courier facility in Delhi. Our relentless pursuit of drug trafficking networks will persist,” Shah stated.
The Home Minister praised the “consecutive major successes against illegal drugs within a single day,” asserting that this accomplishment reflects “the Modi government’s steadfast commitment to establishing a drug-free India.”
In late October, law enforcement officials confiscated MD contraband worth ₹14 lakh and other suspected drugs totaling 427 kg from a factory in the Ankleshwar industrial area of Bharuch district, Gujarat. One individual has been arrested in connection with this case, as reported by an official on Monday. The arrested individual is the only one detained thus far, and further investigations are ongoing, according to information provided to the news agency PTI.
The suspected substances, taken from ‘Avasar Enterprise’ situated in the Ankleshwar GIDC area, have been forwarded to a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for analysis, as stated by Special Operations Group (SOG) police inspector Anand Chaudhary.
