Meerut : The parents of Muskaan Rastogi, who is accused of murdering a merchant navy officer in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, have voiced their outrage regarding the alleged crime and are calling for the death penalty for both their daughter and her accomplice.
Muskaan Rastogi, along with her partner Sahil Shukla, is accused of killing her husband, dismembering his remains, and encasing the body parts in a cement-filled drum in the Indiranagar area of Meerut.
Her parents, Pramod and Kavita, labeled their daughter as “unfit for society” and demanded justice for their son-in-law.
“My daughter (Muskaan) murdered her husband (Saurabh). She poses a danger to society. I urge others to avoid such actions. She deserves to be hanged, and if possible, it should be done publicly,” the father of the accused stated to news agency ANI.
Muskaan Rastogi’s mother described her son-in-law as a good man and echoed her husband’s demand for the death penalty for their daughter.
“Saurabh was a good man… We seek justice, and we want her (Muskaan) to be executed,” she told ANI.
The police have apprehended Rastogi and Sahil Shukla in connection with the murder following the registration of an FIR, and they have indicated that further investigations are ongoing.
Current status of the investigation
According to police reports, the deceased, Saurabh Shukla, who had been employed in London since 2023, returned home to Meerut on March 4 and was reported missing shortly thereafter.
Meerut City SP Ayush Vikram Singh informed ANI that, based on suspicions, Saurabh’s wife, Muskaan Rastogi, and her partner, Sahil Shukla, were summoned for questioning.
“During the interrogation, Sahil Shukla admitted that on March 4, he and Muskaan fatally stabbed Saurabh. They dismembered his body, placed it in a drum, and sealed it with cement,” Singh reported to the media.
The police have recovered the remains and have sent them for a post-mortem examination. Both suspects are currently in police custody, and the investigation into the case is ongoing.
Authorities have alleged that Muskaan’s partner had introduced her to a dependency on ‘ganja.’ While being brought before a Meerut court for an extension of his remand, he was assaulted by lawyers.
