Mamata Banerjee Charges RSS and BJP with “Provoking Violence in Bengal”

Kolkata: On Saturday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of inciting communal violence within the state.

“The RSS and BJP are the instigators of communal unrest in West Bengal. The citizens must exercise caution to avoid falling into their provocations. The BJP and its affiliates, including the RSS, have recently adopted an aggressive stance in the state. They are exploiting the unfortunate circumstances arising from provocation to engage in divisive politics,” the Chief Minister stated in her open letter.

She further asserted that the RSS and BJP aim to “provoke” riots that could have widespread repercussions.

“We embrace all communities. Our goal is unity. We denounce riots and stand firmly against them. The RSS and BJP seek to create divisions for their narrow electoral gains,” she emphasized.

The Chief Minister urged the public to remain composed, reiterating her condemnation of communal riots, which must be effectively addressed.

“The individuals responsible for the riots are being dealt with decisively. However, it is crucial to foster trust and cooperation between communities. Both majority and minority groups must collaborate and support one another,” she remarked.

Additionally, she noted that the state government has implemented stringent measures to uphold law and order and protect human lives and dignity.

“Two police officers-in-charge have been dismissed, and an investigation is underway. Further actions will follow,” the Chief Minister concluded.
