Lucknow: 5 family members, including 2 minors, found murdered in hotel; accused arrested

Lucknow: Five individuals from a single family were discovered murdered within a hotel in Lucknow early Wednesday morning, as reported by the news agency PTI, citing police sources. The suspect has been apprehended and identified as Arshad, aged 24, according to a senior police official.

Raveena Tyagi, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Central Lucknow, stated that the incident occurred at Hotel Sharanjit, located in the Naka area of the Uttar Pradesh capital.

“The suspect, identified as Arshad (24), is alleged to have killed five members of his own family. Following this horrific event, local law enforcement swiftly arrested the suspect at the scene of the crime,” PTI quoted Tyagi as saying.

The victims have been identified as Alia (9), Alshia (19), Aksa (16), and Rahmeen (18), all of whom are Arshad’s sisters. The fifth victim is Asma, the mother of the accused, according to police reports.

The police official indicated that Arshad hails from Agra, noting that initial investigations suggest the motive was related to domestic disputes.

Forensic teams have been dispatched to the crime scene to gather evidence, and a comprehensive investigation has been initiated into the incident, she added.
