Ranchi: Hemant Soren is poised to be sworn in as the 14th Chief Minister of Jharkhand during a significant ceremony at Morabadi Ground on Thursday, November 28. The event is set to commence at 4 PM and will be attended by numerous distinguished political figures and dignitaries, including prominent members of the INDIA coalition. AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal is expected to be present at Soren’s oath-taking ceremony.
Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar will officiate the administration of the oath of office and secrecy to Soren. This occasion marks the fourth term for the 49-year-old leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). Soren successfully retained his Barhait constituency by defeating BJP candidate Gamliyel Hembrom with a substantial margin of 39,791 votes in the recent Assembly elections. The JMM-led coalition achieved a significant victory, securing 56 out of 81 seats in the assembly, while the BJP-led NDA managed to win 24 seats.
“I express my gratitude to the people of Jharkhand for their unwavering faith in our leadership,” Soren remarked, adding, “This victory embodies the aspirations of the populace, and we are committed to realizing them. This is a triumph for the people and their vision for a peaceful and progressive Jharkhand,” he stated in his victory address.
On Tuesday, Soren visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his first trip to the national capital following his alliance’s remarkable achievement of a second consecutive term.
“I had a productive discussion with the Prime Minister, focusing on the growth and development of Jharkhand. His support is crucial as we advance our initiatives,” Soren noted.
His wife, Kalpana, who was also elected as an MLA in the recent elections, accompanied him. Additionally, he met with Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, as well as AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal, extending invitations to them for the swearing-in ceremony.
