Mumbai: Devendra Fadnavis is set to assume the role of Chief Minister of Maharashtra. This decision was reached during a meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Additionally, two deputy chief ministers will be appointed.
The BJP revealed its choice for chief minister today following a series of high-level discussions held at the Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai.
Former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani, along with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, has been designated to oversee the legislative party meeting tasked with selecting the BJP’s legislative leader, who will be the party’s nominee for chief minister.
The BJP achieved a significant victory in the elections held on November 20, securing 132 out of 288 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly. The Mahayuti alliance, which includes the BJP, Shiv Sena, and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), is set to form the government, with the Shiv Sena and NCP holding 57 and 41 seats, respectively.
