Ahmedabad: Air India has confirmed that flight AI171, which was traveling from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, crashed just minutes after take-off this afternoon, carrying 242 individuals, including passengers and crew members. Among them, 169 were Indian nationals, while 53 were British nationals. Additionally, there were seven Portuguese nationals and one Canadian on board the Air India flight that met with an accident in Ahmedabad.
“The injured are being transported to the nearest hospitals,” Air India stated in an official announcement.
“We have also established a dedicated hotline for passengers at 1800 5691 444 to offer further information,” the full-service airline added.
The flight, bound for London, had two pilots, ten crew members, and 230 passengers. The reason for the crash has yet to be determined.
