During the protest organized by the INDIA bloc in Parliament, two significant allies were notably absent
New Delhi: In the Lok Sabha, merely 15 minutes after the session commenced on Tuesday morning, the opposition began chanting slogans demanding a discussion on the Adani and Sambhal issues, alongside other matters such as the situation in Manipur. The opposition subsequently staged a walkout in response to the Adani and Sambhal controversies. Gautam Adani has been indicted by U.S. prosecutors in connection with alleged bribery.
During the protest organized by the INDIA bloc in Parliament, two significant allies were notably absent. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Samajwadi Party (SP), led by Akhilesh Yadav, did not participate in the protest calling for a discussion on Adani. On Monday, TMC Members of Parliament expressed their disagreement with Congress regarding the issues raised, leading to multiple adjournments of the House.
TMC has criticized Congress for its inability to effectively manage the proceedings of the House
The TMC has indicated that, in addition to the Adani matter, there are several other issues they wish to address during the winter session of Parliament. Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party has emphasized that their primary concern for this winter session is the survey of the Sambhal mosque.
Previously, it was only the TMC that was absent from the INDIA bloc’s program, but now the SP has also opted out, revealing a fracture within the coalition. Congress MPs were observed vocally protesting, brandishing placards that read, “Modi – Adani are one.” From the outset, the Trinamool Congress has appeared dissatisfied with Rahul Gandhi’s leadership of the INDIA bloc, with TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee expressing a preference for Mallikarjun Kharge’s leadership. The TMC has criticized Congress for its inability to effectively manage the proceedings of the House.
