New Delhi: A Naxalite was shot dead during a confrontation with security forces in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh, on Friday (May 23). The clash began on Thursday evening in a forest area under the Kistaram police station’s jurisdiction, where a joint team of security personnel was conducting an anti-Naxal operation.
The operation involved members of the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force, and the 210th battalion of CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action), a specialized unit of the CRPF, as stated by an official.
“One Naxalite has been killed in the gunfight, and an ongoing exchange of fire is still taking place in the area,” the official reported. Additional information is pending regarding this incident.
On Thursday, a CoBRA commando from the CRPF and a Naxalite lost their lives during a confrontation in the forests of Tumrel, located along the border of Sukma and Bijapur districts.
In a significant achievement on Wednesday, 27 Naxalites, including their prominent leader Nambala Keshav Rao, also known as Basavaraju, who serves as the general secretary of the banned CPI (Maoist), were killed in a clash with the DRG of the state police in a dense forest along the Narayanpur-Bijapur border.
