Bahujan Samaj Party appoints Akash Anand as chief national coordinator

New Delhi: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati has reaffirmed her trust in her nephew Akash Anand by appointing him as the chief national coordinator of the party, just months after he was removed from all positions.

Today, she held a national meeting at the Central Office on Lodhi Road, Delhi, attended by party officials from across the country, including district presidents and coordinators from Uttar Pradesh, as well as national coordinators, general secretaries, and state presidents.

During the meeting, Mayawati assigned Akash the crucial task of promoting the BSP nationwide, expressing her hope that he would approach this responsibility with diligence and care to enhance both the party and its movement. Previously, on March 3, Mayawati had expelled Akash from the BSP, but he was reinstated just forty days later on April 13. In his return, she advised him to remain steadfast and not be swayed by external influences, while encouraging party members to support him in his renewed role.

Akash Anand, who had previously served as National Coordinator and was designated as Mayawati’s political successor, was expelled due to the perceived influence of his father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth. Mayawati had indicated that the expulsion was in the best interest of the party and the Bahujan movement, but after Akash expressed remorse for his earlier actions, she welcomed him back into the fold.
