Assam: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated on Wednesday, without naming Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, that a parliamentarian from the state had spent 15 days in Pakistan without notifying the Indian government.
Sarma and the BJP have been criticizing Gogoi, the Deputy Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, regarding his British wife Elizabeth Colburn’s purported ties to Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI. Sarma informed reporters during a campaign meeting for panchayat elections that the Assam government possesses information about the parliamentarian’s stay in Islamabad and his connections with the Pakistan embassy, promising that more details will emerge.
He asserted that by September 30, the public would see evidence of how Gogoi, the son of a respected father, allegedly acted against the nation, claiming they have proof of his unreported stay in Islamabad. Sarma also commented on Gogoi’s public displays of offering namaz during Ramadan and Eid, emphasizing that while Pakistan is a significant adversary, those who support it from within the country pose an even greater threat.
He assured that substantial evidence would be presented to the public by September, including details about the parliamentarian’s familial ties to Pakistan, which he claimed would be made clear as day.
