Air Hostess Sexually Assaulted While On Ventilator In Gurugram Hospital: Cops

Gurugram: An air hostess has reported that she was sexually assaulted while on ventilator support in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Gurugram on April 6, according to police officials.

The incident was revealed on April 13, when the victim disclosed the assault to her husband after being discharged from the hospital, prompting him to notify the authorities.

Following the complaint from the 46-year-old woman, a case was filed at the Sadar Police Station, and an investigation is currently underway.

As per her statement to the police, she had traveled to Gurugram for training on behalf of her employer and was residing in a hotel. Her health declined due to a drowning incident, leading to her admission to a private hospital for medical care.

On April 5, her husband transferred her to another hospital in Gurugram for further treatment, and she was discharged on April 13.

In her complaint, she alleged that while on a ventilator during her treatment on April 6, she was sexually assaulted by some hospital staff. At that time, she was unable to speak, felt terrified, and was unconscious, with two nurses present nearby.

After her discharge, she informed her husband about the assault, who then contacted emergency services and subsequently filed a report with the police in the presence of a legal advisor.

“Following the victim’s report, a case has been registered at the Sadar Police Station in Gurugram. A police team was dispatched to the hospital to review the duty roster and examine CCTV footage to identify the perpetrator,” stated Gurugram police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar.

The police have taken further steps in the investigation, and the accused’s statement has been recorded before a magistrate. The police team is working to identify and apprehend the suspect promptly.

The hospital authorities refused to comment on the matter. When the hospital’s security staff was contacted, they denied having any knowledge of the incident.
