Tamilnadu: On Sunday, DMK MP A Raja narrowly avoided injury when a heavy light post fell during a public event in Mayiladuthurai, Tamil Nadu. The incident took place while Raja was speaking to the audience and was recorded on video, which has since gained widespread attention on social media.
The dramatic event occurred as strong winds swept through the area, causing the stage light mounted on a steel rod to topple. The fixture landed directly on the microphone stand, mere inches from where Raja was addressing the crowd. In the video, Raja is observed reacting quickly, stepping back and fleeing the stage as the metal structure crashes onto the podium, inciting panic among attendees.
Following the collapse, chaos ensued both on and off the stage, with party members and audience members rushing for safety. After the incident, Raja and other DMK leaders promptly left the venue, which soon became deserted as heavy rain poured down, tearing down banners and leaving chairs in disarray.
