New Delhi: US Vice President JD Vance arrived in India on Monday for his inaugural official visit, accompanied by his wife Usha and their three children—Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel—during this four-day journey.
The Vice President is joined by high-ranking officials from the Pentagon and the State Department for this trip, which encompasses meetings and cultural activities in Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra.
On Monday evening, Vance is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the finalization of a bilateral trade agreement and to strengthen strategic and economic relations, particularly in light of rising trade tensions between Washington and Beijing.
According to PTI, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and Indian Ambassador to the United States Vinay Mohan Kwatra are anticipated to participate in the discussions led by PM Modi.
Upon his arrival in Delhi, the Vice President will also visit the Swaminarayan Akshardham temple and a local handicrafts market. The Vance family is residing at the ITC Maurya Sheraton.
On Tuesday, April 22, the Vances will head to Jaipur to explore the historic Amer Fort and other cultural landmarks. Later that day, the Vice President will deliver a speech at the Rajasthan International Centre, which is expected to attract diplomats, policy experts, and government officials. His address will highlight the evolving relationship between India and the United States during the Trump administration.
The following day, they will proceed to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal and Shilpgram, an open-air marketplace for Indian handicrafts, before returning to Jaipur that evening.
