Sambhal violence: 400 identified, will put up posters of those involved today, says DM

New Delhi: More than 400 individuals have been identified in relation to the violence in Sambhal, with 32 arrests made, as stated by District Magistrate Rajender Pensiya. On Thursday, the District Magistrate of Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, announced that posters of those implicated in the violence, which occurred on November 24 during a court-ordered survey of a mosque, will be displayed.

According to DM Pensiya, over 400 individuals have been identified, and 32 have been apprehended in connection with the disturbances. He informed the news agency PTI that a peace committee meeting is scheduled for 3 PM on Thursday. “We will engage in discussions regarding the number of individuals whose posters will be displayed,” Pensiya remarked.

“We are in the process of designing the poster, which will be finalized today. The 400 identified individuals will be considered for the posters, excluding those who have already been arrested,” he added. The unrest in Sambhal began on November 24 during an examination by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) of a Mughal-era mosque. The clashes resulted in four fatalities and numerous injuries among both police officers and local residents.

The ASI survey was initiated following a petition in a local court, asserting that the mosque was originally constructed on the site of a Harihar temple. Rahul Gandhi was prevented from visiting Sambhal on Wednesday when he was stopped at the Ghaziabad border between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh while attempting to travel to Sambhal with his sister, MP Priyanka Gandhi.
