The NDA, which is contesting as a unified front in both states, appears poised to maintain its hold on Maharashtra, having established a significant lead in the western state. Meanwhile, the INDIA bloc has surpassed the halfway threshold in Jharkhand.

Maharashtra Elections: The Mahayuti versus Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) Contest
In Maharashtra, the main rivalry is between the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, which includes Shiv Sena and NCP (Ajit Pawar), and the Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), comprising Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SCP). Most exit polls and analysts have forecasted a solid majority for the Mahayuti alliance. However, these projections also suggest that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is expected to perform well in the results, although it is unlikely to achieve a majority.
Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde has stated that the leaders of Mahayuti will convene to determine who will assume the role of Chief Minister of Maharashtra if they secure a majority in the election results. The results of the 2024 Maharashtra assembly elections are poised to significantly influence the political dynamics of the Western state, marking the first assembly election since the fragmentation of major parties such as Shiv Sena and NCP. The BJP-led coalition in Jharkhand comprises the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), Janata Dal (United), and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), while the JMM-led alliance includes the Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist).
Exit polls have produced mixed forecasts, suggesting the possibility of a hung assembly in Jharkhand, with several indicating that the BJP-led NDA may have a slight advantage over the JMM coalition.
The elections in Jharkhand were conducted in two phases on November 13 and November 20, covering 81 assembly seats, with a voter turnout of 67.74% across both phases. The turnout for the second and final phase reached 68.95%.
In Uttar Pradesh, the counting of votes for by-elections across 46 assembly seats in 13 states, as well as in the Lok Sabha constituencies of Nanded in Maharashtra and Wayanad in Kerala, is set to commence at 8 am on Saturday. This electoral outcome is crucial for the Bharatiya Janata Party, which is striving to restore its reputation following a lackluster performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
