West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sparked controversy with her warning to the BJP during a Trinamool Chhatra Parishad event on Wednesday. She stated, “Remember, if Bengal burns, then Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Delhi will also burn.” This remark has led to a complaint being filed against her with the Delhi Police by Vineet Jindal, a lawyer at the Supreme Court.
Jindal alleges that Banerjee’s statement was provocative and aimed at inciting unrest, potentially fostering regional hatred and enmity, thereby posing a threat to national harmony and public order. Given the seriousness of the situation and the weight of Banerjee’s words as chief minister, Jindal has requested that an FIR be lodged under Sections 152, 192, 196, and 353 of the BNS against Banerjee, emphasizing the cognizable and serious nature of the alleged offences.
