‘Half in jail, half on bail’
The national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), JP Nadda, mocked the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) for corruption allegations against opposition leaders, stating that half of their members are incarcerated, and the remaining half are out on bail.
During an election rally in Maharashtra’s Gondia district, JP Nadda emphasized the contrast between PM Modi’s stance on punishing corruption and the INDI alliance’s stance on protecting the corrupt. Nadda presented a choice between saving or penalizing the corrupt, pointing out that figures like Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, P Chidambaram, Lalu Yadav, and others are out on bail, while individuals like Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Satyender Jain are facing incarceration. Nadda underscored a list of corruption accusations against the opposition leaders.
The BJP leader listed various alleged scams committed by different political figures, stating that the Congress was involved in scams like the coal scam, Augusta Westland helicopter scam, submarine scam, corruption in rice and sugar, 2G/3G scam, and Commonwealth scam. Akhilesh Yadav was accused of involvement in a laptop scam and corruption related to the Gomti river front. Lalu Yadav was linked to the fodder scam, with remarks questioning if he consumed cattle fodder. Additionally, corruption allegations included coal tar and a land-for-job scam. Mamata Banerjee was mentioned in relation to a teacher recruitment scam, cattle smuggling scam, and a sand scam.
