Congress: Big decision can be made within the next 15 days?

After the crushing defeat in the assembly elections of five states, preparations for surgery are underway on a large scale in the Congress organization. Major changes can be made within the next 15 days. Under this, new PCC chiefs will be made in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur. Apart from this, in some states, general secretaries and secretaries can also be on leave.

Eliminating factionalism
To strengthen the organization in all other states including Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, which are included in the list of upcoming assembly elections, work is underway on a new strategy at the level of the Congress high command. It mainly focuses on eliminating conflicts between leaders within the organization in each state.

The way the Congress has lost in Punjab and Uttarakhand, the biggest reason is believed to be the conflict within the organization. Efforts are being made to unite the party leaders so that this incident does not happen again in the election states. In fact, there is hardly any state where there is no fight for supremacy between the leaders in the Congress. Congress is suffering the most because of this.

In this connection, party President Sonia Gandhi held a meeting with the leaders of Himachal Pradesh in Delhi recently and advised them to end factionalism. At the same time, on Friday, Rahul Gandhi met the leaders of Haryana in this regard. Rahul Gandhi appealed to everyone to work unitedly for the party by ending mutual squabbles. For the time being, every leader has been advised to set aside his personal agenda, which will help in rebuilding the party in the state.

Gujarat

Elections are to be held in Gujarat in November this year. It is a big challenge for the Congress to penetrate the strong fortress of BJP there. The seriousness of the Congress regarding Gujarat can be understood from the fact that 25 new vice-presidents, 75 general secretaries and 17 city and district presidents have been made to strengthen the organization.

A few months back, the party has made Raghu Sharma of Rajasthan in-charge of Gujarat. It will be interesting to see how Raghu Sharma is able to build the party in the home state of PM Modi and Amit Shah and how much mileage he can give to the Congress in the elections.

Madhya Pradesh

After 20 months, that is, in December 2023, there will be assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh. In Madhya Pradesh, the command of Congress is with Kamal Nath. Apart from the state president of the party, he is also handling the responsibility of the Leader of the Opposition. It is discussed that in the coming days, only one responsibility will be left with Kamal Nath. The responsibility of the organization will be given to a new person, so that for the next year’s assembly elections, the party can be given a new spirit and the Congress can compete with the BJP. In 2018, the Congress returned to power after 15 years when Kamal Nath was the party’s state president, but it was difficult for Kamal Nath to clash with Jyotiraditya Scindia. Kamal Nath lost his government in March 2020 due to a clash with Scindia.

Rajasthan: Who will be the face?

Rajasthan is a very important state from the point of view of Congress, but in this state the confrontation between Gehlot and Pilot faction has been going on continuously for the last three years. Repeated efforts are being made by the Congress high command to end this conflict, but the dispute is not taking its name. The party returned to power when Pilot was the state president of the Congress, but he is not in the government and organization for a long time, while in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, the then Congress state president was made the CM, but Pilot was given that criteria. was carried out.

For more than two decades, there has been a tradition of changing the government every five years. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see what steps the Congress is taking to come back to power here.

Chhattisgarh

There is also a Congress government in Chhattisgarh. Congress came to power with full majority by removing the BJP’s Raman government, which had been frozen for 15 years, but here too the Congress is not untouched by factionalism. Here the dispute between CM Bhupesh Baghel and Health Minister TS Singhdeo faction has reached Delhi Durbar. In 2018, the party returned to power after a long time while Baghel was in the Congress state, but the TS Singhdeo faction has also been staking its claim for the post of CM.

The Congress high command has tried hard to end this dispute and this exercise is going on continuously. The biggest challenge for the Congress is to save this stronghold in the 2023 assembly elections.

General Secretary, Secretary will also be changed
There is also a preparation to change the General Secretary and Secretaries of some states from the Congress side. For this homework is being done at the party. A strategy is being prepared to strengthen the Congress on the ground. According to sources, 10 to 15 percent new general secretaries will be made, while 20 to 25 percent new secretaries will be made. The removal of the old office-bearers is believed to be certain. For this their work is being evaluated.
